Mothers’ Union members get anniversary celebrations off to a flying start

A sponsored zip wire ride in Hirwaun is among the first anniversary events organised by Swansea & Brecon Mothers’ Union — with a wave of prayer to follow.

Members of Swansea & Brecon Mothers’ Union have marked the organisation’s anniversary with a sponsored zip wire ride in Hirwaun.

Sue Rivers, Provincial President; Lowri Washington Jones, Zonal Trustee for Wales; Alison Lawrence, Archidiaconal Vice President for the Brecon Archdeaconry; and Fran Shaw, a diocesan member, took part in the adventure event.

The ride is one of the first activities organised locally as part of the anniversary celebrations, highlighting the work and witness of Mothers’ Union in communities across the diocese and beyond.

Alongside the fundraising events, the diocesan branches will also take their turn in sustaining the organisation’s constant global ‘wave’ of prayer for members around the world.

From Thursday, February 19, to Saturday, February 21, branches across Swansea & Brecon will divide the three days into consecutive hours of prayer, beginning in Llansamlet and concluding in the Brecon Archdeaconry as the prayer focus passes to another area and time zone.
