Wonder of Wellbeing: Creative Practitioner

About the role

The Wonder of Wellbeing is an innovative ministry helping people encounter Jesus and grow the Church through Gower's landscape, nature and church buildings. As Creative Practitioner, you'll design and deliver the project's wellbeing and Prayerful Practice sessions, working closely with the Wellbeing Project Lead, the Faith & Wellbeing Guide and a team of volunteers to achieve the project's missional and strategic objectives, aligned with the wider diocesan vision and strategy.

Wellbeing events & services

• Design and deliver wellbeing sessions using the Five Ways to Wellbeing principles.
• Create sessions that inspire and revive people through Gower's landscape, nature, church buildings and coastline.
• Provide beach-based wellbeing events around Gower during school holidays.
• Foster connections with Faith in Families, bringing the project into inner-city Swansea and welcoming families to Gower.
• Ensure sessions are accessible to people of varying ages and abilities.
• Build the project's reputation among diocesan and Church in Wales groups, so bespoke sessions can be offered or others trained to deliver them.

Prayerful Practice

• Create a sense of a dispersed retreat centre through sessions in Gower's churches that explore the Christian faith and stimulate a sense of God speaking into people's lives.
• Provide opportunities to construct creative art installations and make community art available.
• Work with church congregations across Gower to design and install art gallery shows as missional ventures.
• Co-create bespoke prayer-focused sessions with churches, schools and groups, based on local need.

Resources for spiritual growth

• Build an ongoing gallery of creative work — prose, poetry, art and installations, digital where fitting — as people express their faith through the project.
• Design new resources to help people explore Christianity through nature and join the project's online community.
• Support volunteers producing video, blogs and web stories for the online community.
• Gather data and participant feedback to enable reporting on the project to stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a practising Christian with a vibrant faith, happy to work within the framework of the Church in Wales, who brings creativity, a love of the outdoors and experience of community-based art to this role.

The Church in Wales has a detailed programme of safeguarding training and DBS checks appropriate to its roles. The post holder will be required to comply with these processes as directed by Safeguarding Officers and Administrators within the Church in Wales.
