The Diocese of Swansea & Brecon

Our diocese stretches from the shores of Gower to the hills and valleys of mid-Wales. We are a community of churches, clergy and lay ministers working together across ministry areas to share God's love in rural communities, coastal towns, former industrial valleys and the city of Swansea.

We are shaped by an ancient Christian story, yet focused on the present and future — nurturing disciples, serving communities, and helping people encounter Christ in worship, learning, and everyday life.

The Church in Wales

The Church in Wales is an Anglican province made up of six dioceses. Formed in 1920, it continues the life of the historic church in this land while remaining rooted in the wider Anglican family. Bishops, priests and deacons serve together to proclaim the gospel and care for God's people.

Our province worships in Welsh and English, cherishes the gifts of lay ministry, and is committed to justice, compassion and the flourishing of all people. We also value our international partnerships — including our link with the Diocese of Asante Mampong in Ghana.

The Anglican Communion

We are part of the Anglican Communion, a worldwide fellowship of provinces in communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury. This global family spans more than 165 countries, united in prayer, common faith and shared mission.

Together, Anglicans seek to follow Christ's call to love, reconciliation and service, working for peace and justice across God's world.

The Christian Calendar

The rhythm of the Christian year shapes our worship and discipleship. Key seasons include:

Advent · Christmas · Epiphany · Lent · Holy Week · Easter · Pentecost · Ordinary Time

These seasons help us walk the life of Christ year by year — waiting, celebrating, repenting, renewing, and growing in faith.
