Marking life's milestones with the Church

From the very start of life through to its end, the church is here to share in the moments that matter. Across our ministry areas you'll find clergy and congregations ready to welcome, celebrate and stand alongside you.

Baptism or christening in church

Baptism & Christening

In baptism — often called christening — we celebrate the gift of new life. Water is poured as a sign of being washed clean, and prayers are said for the journey of faith ahead. Parents and godparents make promises to help nurture their child, and the whole church family welcomes them with joy.

Baptisms can take place at any age, but they are especially common for babies and young children. If you're thinking about a christening, your local church would love to hear from you.

Marriage service in an Anglican church

Marriage

A wedding in church is more than a beautiful setting — it's a moment to make your vows in the sight of God and among family and friends. The service blends tradition with your own choices of music, readings and prayers.

Marriage services are arranged directly with local clergy. They'll guide you through the legal requirements and help you shape a ceremony that reflects both your love and your faith.

Funeral service in church

Funerals

A funeral in the Church in Wales offers space to grieve, to give thanks, and to commend a loved one into God's care. The service can take place in church, at a crematorium or at the graveside, led by a priest or minister who will walk with you through the arrangements.

Funerals are usually arranged through a funeral director in the first instance, who will then contact the local clergy. Whatever the circumstances, the church seeks to bring compassion and hope at a difficult time.
