Free summer events from the Wonder of Wellbeing, Gower

The Wonder of Wellbeing is running a full programme of free summer events across Gower, from retreats to an interactive art exhibition.

Three mini retreat workshops are on offer. "Hearing God in a Busy World" takes place on 25 July, 2–5pm at St Illtyd's Church, Oxwich, offering a spiritual refuelling and an invitation to pause and encounter God afresh amid life's demands. "Prayer, Healing and Blessing" follows on 15 August, 2–5pm at St Mary's Church, Pennard, exploring the practices used in invoking God's blessing on others and on one's own life. The same theme continues in "God With Us in Hard Times" on 25 August, 7pm at St Cattwg's Church, Port Eynon.

A series of talks and events runs alongside the workshops. An evening of Celtic music featuring traditional melodies and songs of reflection takes place on 26 August, 7pm at Llangennith. Every Friday from 10am to 12pm, St Mary's Church hosts a free coffee and chat alongside a summer interactive art exhibition, with magnifying glasses provided to explore the detail. On 22 August, 2–5pm at Wernffwrd, a talk looks at the Gower history of the Tractarian movement, focusing on how Victorian Gower clergy shaped church tradition through the life of Rev'd JD Davies.

For those wanting something more self-led or facilitated, bespoke day retreats are available on 29 July, 5, 9 and 26 August, giving space to explore spiritual practices including pilgrimage, contemplation and creative prayer. Beach prayers take place every Thursday at 6.15pm at Oxwich, a short prayerful reflection amid the sound and setting of the beach. A pilgrimage walking a section of the Gower Pilgrimage Way, exploring what pilgrimage means in 2026, is offered on 13, 20 and 27 July and 17 and 24 August.

Two further events round out the programme. Sauna prayers combine a sauna and swim with spiritual refreshing at Oxwich Bay on 15 and 29 August, at 9am and 8am respectively, priced at £12 per person. And Wild Church meets on 22 August at 10.30am at Pwll Du, inviting people to bring their own breakfast and join a time of community on the beach reflecting on a story of Jesus.
