Pastoral visitor

Are you interested in exploring becoming a pastoral visitor?

Pastoral Visitors and members of a Pastoral Care team demonstrate the faith of all Christ’s people by showing Christlike love and concern for others. They do so by undertaking pastoral tasks, both inside and outside Church buildings. They work with other Ministers, particularly Clergy and Licensed Lay Ministers.

Pastoral Assistants and members of a pastoral care team demonstrate the faith of all Christ’s people by showing Christlike love and concern for others. They do so by undertaking pastoral tasks both inside and outside church buildings, working alongside other ministers, particularly licensed pastoral ministers and clergy.

The work of a Pastoral Assistant will depend on the needs of the local church, and may include some or all of the following:

  • representing the love of God and God’s care for the whole person and for creation
  • listening to, praying for, and being present with those who are sick or suffering
  • visiting the sick and housebound on behalf of the church

Worship leader

Are you interested in exploring becoming a worship leader?

Worship Leaders and members of a worship leading team express the participation of all Christ’s people in the liturgy. They work with other Ministers, particularly Readers and Clergy.

The work of a Worship Leader will depend on the needs of the local church and will include some or all of the following, as appropriate to their role.

Worship Leaders support and enrich the worshipping life of the church by:

  • leading services of Morning and Evening Prayer (they are not licensed to preach)
  • assisting with the Ministry of the Word at the Eucharist
  • taking a lead in reading the Bible and leading the Intercessions, and enabling others to do likewise
  • leading Services of the Word without a sermon, both inside and outside the church
  • encouraging creativity and good practice in liturgy and worship in response to local context
  • helping to lead the church in faithfulness and devotion in prayer and worship

Eucharistic Assistant

Are you interested in becoming a Eucharistic Assistant?

The Eucharistic Assistant will support the priest distribute the Holy Communion in church during the celebration of the Eucharist. Eucharistic Assistants will be commissioned by the Ministry Area to serve in their local churches.
