A festival of lilies – St Catwg's Church, Llangattock — Diocese of Swansea and Brecon

Easter 2026

A festival of lilies

Every Easter, St Catwg's Church in Llangattock fills with lilies - purchased in memory of loved ones, arranged by willing hands, and visited by people from far beyond the village.

For 15 years, with a break for Covid, St Catwg's has marked Easter with a lily festival that has grown quietly into something much larger than the community that started it. Churchwarden Ann Williams said lilies are ordered weeks in advance, purchased in memory of loved ones and recorded in a book of remembrance. The church opens to visitors for several days, with stewards and refreshments.

"This has become a much loved tradition," Ann said, "with people travelling from far and wide to see them."
